Ch 33 : An Incident at the Bar

As expected, because of her falling out with Meng Yan, Shen Nanyue inevitably received another round of scolding from Zhou Yu.

But Shen Nanyue didn’t care in the slightest.

That day, Zhu Yuan booked a venue and invited Shen Nanyue out to have fun.

In the center of the lively hall, rotating lights swung across the dance floor, splashing shifting colors everywhere.

Young men and women cheered wildly as they ignited the stage, releasing all the passion of youth.

Zhu Yuan handed her a glass of whiskey and raised her voice over the music.

“Little Yueyue, it’s been forever since we came out to play. Stop pulling such a long face and enjoy yourself!”

Shen Nanyue wore a fiery red fishtail dress with a strapless design, a black belt cinched around her waist.

Tiny red diamonds embedded throughout the fabric reflected the flashing lights, shimmering brightly and dimly in turns.

“Alright!”

She took the glass and shouted back loudly.

After clinking glasses, Zhu Yuan grabbed Shen Nanyue’s hand and pulled her toward the center of the dance floor.

Under the heavy rhythm of the music, hormones and emotions were released without restraint.

The two women held their drinks as they danced among the crowd, twisting their waists, sometimes shouting wildly, sometimes deliberately feeding each other drinks in flirtatious cross-arm toasts.

The fiery wild rose and the enchanting camellia drew cheers from the crowd.

Even though they weren’t on stage, they still attracted countless gazes.

After one explosive round of dancing ended, the young crowd reluctantly returned to their seats to continue drinking.

As Shen Nanyue and Zhu Yuan headed back, a red-haired young man brushed back his hair and raised his brows at Shen Nanyue in a deliberately cool pose.

“Beautiful lady, can I get your number? We can hang out together sometime.”

“Married.”

Shen Nanyue answered with a faint smile, casually dismissing him with just those two words.

Zhu Yuan laughed as she wrapped an arm around Shen Nanyue’s shoulders while walking back.

“You’re getting better and better at lying now. Not even a blush or a racing heartbeat.”

“I’ll take that as praise.”

Shen Nanyue looked rather proud of herself.

Still chatting and laughing, the two women returned to their table—only to discover that two extra people had appeared there.

Chen Mu and Lin Siwan.

The smile on Shen Nanyue’s face faded slightly as she looked at them coldly.

“You’ve got the wrong table.”

Chen Mu’s face darkened, but he said nothing.

Instead, Lin Siwan, seated beside him, stood up with a smile directed at Shen Nanyue.

“We didn’t mistake it. We saw you dancing earlier, Sister, and realized you were here too, so we came over to say hello.”

“Then now that you’ve said hello, get lost.”

Shen Nanyue pulled Zhu Yuan back into their seats and ignored the pair completely afterward.

Zhu Yuan merely shot them a disdainful glance from beginning to end without saying a single word.

After sitting down, she simply resumed drinking with Shen Nanyue.

None of them took the others seriously.

Chen Mu’s dark gaze settled on Shen Nanyue.

Her long black curls cascaded over her flawless shoulders, swaying up and down against her snow-white skin with every movement.

His gaze darkened even further.

From afar earlier, he had watched her dancing passionately in the crowd.

Her breathtaking face paired perfectly with her stunning figure had attracted the attention of countless men.

A fury he couldn’t explain surged within him.

It had taken enormous effort to suppress the impulse to drag Shen Nanyue away.

Just as Lin Siwan was about to say something, she lowered her eyes and noticed Chen Mu staring fixedly at Shen Nanyue’s face.

Instantly, intense anger and jealousy surged within her.

“Brother Chen Mu, Sister doesn’t welcome us, so let’s leave first. Qingqing and the others are still waiting for us.”

After two seconds of silence, Chen Mu stood up.

Lin Siwan immediately stepped forward and intimately hooked her arm through Chen Mu’s.

Then she turned and secretly flashed Shen Nanyue a smug smile.

“Sister, we’ll be leaving now. If you get drunk later, I can take you home. Otherwise, those men eyeing you hungrily might take advantage of you.”

A trace of disdain flashed through her smiling eyes as she pulled Chen Mu along, preparing to leave.

But just as they turned around, Zhao Qingqing walked over.

“Siwan, what’s going on with you and Chen Mu? We were drinking perfectly fine, and then you suddenly ran over here. What, afraid I’d get your future husband drunk?”

While teasing them, Zhao Qingqing’s gaze swept to Shen Nanyue sitting nearby.

Her expression changed instantly, her eyes filling with contempt and disgust.

Lin Siwan quickly explained, “Qingqing, Brother Chen Mu and I saw Sister here, so we came over to say hello. We were just about to head back.”

“A rotten flower with a terrible reputation, and you still treat her like your sister.”

Zhao Qingqing snorted coldly, unable to hide her disgust toward Shen Nanyue.

“Zhao Qingqing, clean up your mouth! Dogs don’t spit out ivory!”

Zhu Yuan lifted her gaze and glared at her, standing up for Shen Nanyue.

Among the younger generation of wealthy elites, Zhao Qingqing was known as both highly capable and arrogantly overbearing.

At a young age, she had already inherited her family business.

In just two years, she had doubled the market value of the Zhou Group.

Because of that, she held herself above everyone else—socializing with rich heirs while simultaneously looking down on them.

But since Zhao Qingqing now controlled the Zhou Group’s affairs, none of the rich heirs dared offend her easily.

Sooner or later, many of them would end up working in their own family companies, and who knew when they might need her help in the future?

And among all those spoiled rich kids, the person Zhao Qingqing despised most was Shen Nanyue.

She let out another cold snort, tilting her head arrogantly as she looked down her nose at Shen Nanyue.

“Who doesn’t know that Shen Nanyue uses that face of hers to drift from man to man every day? Chen Mu dumped you because you’re already a ruined flower, right? I only spoke the truth, and now you’re offended?”

As she spoke, she burst into loud laughter, her bright voice immediately drawing attention from the surrounding crowd.

People who had been chatting excitedly nearby all turned to look their way.

“Isn’t that Zhao Qingqing? What’s she laughing at like an idiot?”

“What idiot laugh? She’s mocking someone! Look at who’s sitting across from her—the top playgirl of the social circle. Zhao Qingqing’s arrogant, so it’s normal she looks down on her.”

“I overheard a bit earlier. Something about Shen Nanyue being a flower already played with by men. Crude, but not entirely wrong. I saw her dancing wildly in the dance floor just now.”

“Hahaha, the battlefield’s about to explode. What’s going to happen when Miss Shen clashes with the successful President Zhao?”

“Pass me the sunflower seeds—I want to enjoy the drama too!”

“…”

The scattered conversations around them were filled with the delight of spectators enjoying a show.

Zhu Yuan was about to stand up and fight Zhao Qingqing to the death, but Shen Nanyue stopped her.

Confused, Zhu Yuan looked toward Shen Nanyue. Seeing the reassuring look Shen Nanyue gave her, she forcefully suppressed her anger, crossing her arms against the booth seat while glaring fiercely at Zhao Qingqing.

Unhurriedly, Shen Nanyue set down her wine glass.

With one leg elegantly crossed over the other, her snow-white slender legs contrasted beautifully against the vivid red dress, making her look even more dazzling and fiery.

She leaned slightly forward, propping her head up with one hand as she smiled at Zhao Qingqing.

“Director Zhao became head of Zhou Group’s entertainment company at such a young age and managed everything flawlessly. In only two years, you signed several top-tier celebrities and produced multiple hit films and television dramas, directly doubling the Zhou Group’s market value.”

“No wonder you’re considered one of the best among the younger generation. Everyone can clearly see Director Zhao’s abilities.”

Her voice was calm and sincere, praising Zhao Qingqing so smoothly that even Zhao Qingqing began to feel flattered.

Zhao Qingqing sneered, though the contempt in her cold eyes remained.

“What? Trying to flatter me so I’ll go easy on you?”

Zhou Yushen was famously known as an untouchable iceberg beauty—everyone said he was far beyond anyone’s reach. But only Shen Nanyue knew the blazing passion and madness hidden beneath his cold and austere exterior.

At first, she thought he only lusted after her beauty, addicted to the desire and intoxication of the night.
