Ch 57 : Caused a scene

After walking out of the Civil Affairs Bureau, Shen Nanyue still felt somewhat dazed as she held the bright red marriage certificate in her hands.

Technically, she should not have gotten married so soon after her grandfather’s passing.

But if she did not get married, then…

“You really want me to move into the Shen residence?”

Zhou Yushen put away the marriage certificate and looked at her.

“Of course. Now that we’re married, you’re my husband. How would it look if you still kept living in the Zhou family’s house?”

As though suddenly thinking of something, Shen Nanyue tilted her head at him.

“Or are you afraid people will say you married into my family?”

Afraid? Not really.

But facts were facts.

Zhou Yushen paused for two seconds before replying:

“You really are unconventional.”

Shen Nanyue was just about to say something when her phone rang.

She gestured apologetically to Zhou Yushen before answering.

“Miss, you need to come to the company immediately. Something’s happened.”

A faint smile curved Shen Nanyue’s lips.

So it had finally come.

After hanging up, she handed Zhou Yushen a key.

“I have something to deal with, so I can’t help you move today. See you at home later.”

After Zhou Yushen accepted the key, Shen Nanyue got into her car and drove away.

“Home…”

Zhou Yushen softly repeated the unfamiliar yet strangely warm word.

A faint smile appeared on his lips as he tightened his grip on the key before turning to leave as well.

When Shen Nanyue stepped into the executive office floor of Shen Group, the place was already in chaos.

“Before my father died, he personally revised the will. The Shen Group still belongs to the Shen family. As the only remaining son of the Shen family, it’s only natural that I inherit the company!”

The speaker was Shen Tong, Shen Nanyue’s uncle.

The moment he finished speaking, Zhou Yu let out a mocking snort and sneered back at him.

“With your pathetic amount of shares, you think you can inherit the Shen Group? Please! When Shen Qing was alive, you were nothing but a useless playboy. If the Shen Group falls into your hands, it’ll go bankrupt tomorrow!”

“Zhou Yu, don’t think I don’t know what you’re planning! Don’t you just want your useless daughter to inherit the Shen Group? No matter what, Shen Nanyue carries the Shen family bloodline. You’re already part of the Lin family now—what right do you have to interfere in Shen family matters?”

“Because I’m Shen Nanyue’s biological mother!”

“You call yourself worthy? The moment my brother died, you rushed to remarry. If my father hadn’t protected you all these years, I would’ve thrown you out long ago!”

The argument inside only intensified.

Shen Nanyue stood quietly at the doorway until the voices gradually calmed down before finally pushing the door open and entering.

Inside the office, besides Shen Tong and Zhou Yu, there was also the lawyer who had served her grandfather during his lifetime, standing beside Shen Tong.

Meanwhile, Assistant Xu, who was temporarily acting as chairman of the Shen Group, stood awkwardly in the middle trying to mediate.

The moment he saw Shen Nanyue, it was as if he had spotted a savior.

“Miss, you’re finally here!”

Shen Nanyue gave him a reassuring smile before walking straight toward Shen Tong and Zhou Yu.

Without wasting words, she went directly to the point.

“Starting today, I will take over all projects under the Shen Group. This office belongs to me now.”

Her cold, commanding voice echoed through the room.

All three people froze.

Shen Tong reacted first, his face darkening immediately.

“Shen Nanyue! When did you get married?!”

“Just now.”

“You unfilial brat! Your grandfather was barely buried and you already got married? You’re utterly shameless!”

Shen Tong’s face flushed red with rage as he glared at Shen Nanyue, looking as though he might slap her at any moment.

But Shen Nanyue showed no fear whatsoever.

Instead, she answered calmly:

“Compared to me, Uncle, you’re obviously far more filial. Grandpa nearly died twice, yet you never once visited him. During the last month he spent recuperating at home, you never even showed your face.”

“But now that Grandpa is gone, here you are rushing over to seize the company.”

“You—!”

Shen Nanyue could practically see steam rising from the top of his head.

Yet she remained indifferent.

Putting away her marriage certificate, she turned toward the lawyer standing behind Shen Tong.

“Lawyer Wang, did Grandpa really change the will before he died?”

A trace of guilt flashed through Lawyer Wang’s eyes, but he still forced himself to nod.

“Yes.”

“And what exactly did Grandpa say in the will?”

“Before his death, Old Master Shen revoked the clause donating the Shen Group and instead appointed Young Master Shen Tong as the new chairman of the Shen Group.”

“May I see the will?”

“This…”

Lawyer Wang looked troubled and turned to glance at Shen Tong.

Shen Tong glared at Shen Nanyue irritably.

“Lawyer Wang was the lawyer your grandfather trusted most when he was alive. Are you questioning your grandfather now?”

At that moment, Zhou Yu, who had been silently watching the drama unfold, suddenly let out a cold snort.

“Nanyue only wants to verify the authenticity of the will. Since Dad revised the will before his death, we also have the right to examine its contents, don’t we?”

“You, an outsider, have no right to speak here!”

“Who are you calling an outsider?” Zhou Yu exploded angrily.

“You! Trying to help the Lin family swallow up the Shen family’s assets? Dream on!”

“Enough!”

Seeing the two about to erupt into another argument, Shen Nanyue coldly interrupted them.

Though young, her commanding tone was enough to make people instinctively fearful.

“Assistant Xu, notify all shareholders. The meeting will begin in the conference room in half an hour.”

“Yes, Miss.”

After Assistant Xu left, Shen Nanyue turned toward Lawyer Wang.

“If Lawyer Wang forgot to bring Grandpa’s will, I’ll give you half an hour to have someone deliver it.”

Lawyer Wang had not expected Shen Nanyue to give him an opening like that.

After secretly exchanging glances with Shen Tong, he finally turned and left.

Zhou Yu looked at Shen Nanyue with disappointment and frustration, as though she hated how incapable her daughter was.

She was just about to speak—

But Shen Nanyue had already walked straight to the office chair nearby and sat down, closing her eyes to rest without saying another word to either of them.

“Useless.”

Zhou Yu snorted coldly before sitting on the sofa to the side, falling silent as well.

Meanwhile, Shen Tong frowned deeply, a growing sense of unease stirring in his heart.

Half an hour later—

Shareholders gradually entered the spacious office one after another.

Among them was an unexpected guest: Lin Siwan.

“Unrelated people should leave,” Shen Nanyue said calmly.

Zhou Yu immediately stepped forward protectively.

“I transferred all my shares to Siwan. She is now one of the Shen Group’s shareholders as well.”

For the first time, Shen Nanyue’s expression changed.

Though only for an instant, she quickly regained her usual calm composure.

Once everyone had taken their seats, Lawyer Wang finally opened the will and began reading Old Master Shen’s final instructions aloud.

“After my death, the Shen Group shall be managed by my eldest son, Shen Tong. Shen Tong shall become the new chairman of the Shen Group.”

The moment those words were spoken, everyone in the room was shocked.

The shareholders had already mentally prepared for the company to be nationalized or dissolved.

And now it was being handed over to Shen Tong?

That was even worse!

Shen Tong stood up smiling and looked around at everyone.

“I hope everyone will continue to support me in the future.”

Many shareholders were dissatisfied, but since it had supposedly been the former chairman’s final decision, none of them dared openly question it too much.

At that moment, Shen Nanyue suddenly spoke.

“Lawyer Wang, may I ask when exactly Grandpa revised this clause in the will?”

After thinking for a moment, Lawyer Wang answered:

“It was revised the day before Old Master Shen passed away—September 1st.”

Old Master Shen had died on September 2nd.

The closer the date sounded, the more convincing the story would appear.

“But the words Grandpa left for me before going to the hospital were not like this at all.”

Shen Nanyue slowly took out the voice recorder and smiled faintly at Lawyer Wang.

Lawyer Wang frowned immediately, cold sweat spreading across his back.

Zhou Yushen was famously known as an untouchable iceberg beauty—everyone said he was far beyond anyone’s reach. But only Shen Nanyue knew the blazing passion and madness hidden beneath his cold and austere exterior.

At first, she thought he only lusted after her beauty, addicted to the desire and intoxication of the night. Yet when he willingly bowed before her, content to become utterly devoted to her, she finally understood—love had always been a kind of willing taming, one powerful enough to pull the cold moon hanging high in the heavens down into the mortal dust.
