As Bai Qiu put away Dragon-Slaying Star’s Breath Spear, a shrill cry rang out from high above.
Looking up, he saw a gigantic silver bird diving straight toward him from the heavens!
It was so unbelievably fast that Bai Qiu had only just activated his appraisal skill when, in the very next instant, the bird seized him in its talons and carried him hundreds of meters through the air.
Fortunately, protected by both his magical power and armor—and backed by his exceptional physical stats—he withstood the bird’s grip without suffering any injuries.
He immediately reversed his grip on Dragon-Slaying Star’s Breath Spear and thrust it toward the bird’s talons.
Sensing the danger, the giant bird abruptly released him after climbing only a few hundred meters into the sky.
Bai Qiu, meanwhile, failed to land a hit.
So fast!
That was Bai Qiu’s first thought.
Its speed was so outrageous that even his Sevenfold Arcane Crystallization Eyes had misjudged its movements.
Skyvault Silver Falcon
Level 46 – Monarch-Class Monster
Strength: C++
Magic: B-
Endurance: C++
Agility: B
Skyvault Power: B
Skills:
Skyvault Light
Silver Feathers
Skyvault Light Cannon
Skyvault Burst
Danger Sense
Skyvault Mana Feather Cloak
“Holy crap…”
Even Bai Qiu was stunned by the monster’s luxurious stat sheet and skill set.
Watching the Skyvault Silver Falcon circle around him at blinding speed, he realized that if he didn’t handle this carefully, he’d end up seriously injured today.
Still, he had one advantage.
The falcon’s Strength wasn’t particularly impressive.
The moment it came within range, he could activate his Class Noble Phantasm.
The instantly cast Converging Mana Thurst would be enough to kill it in a single strike.
The Skyvault Silver Falcon had also sensed the danger Bai Qiu posed, which was why it refused to approach recklessly.
Its opening dive-and-grab attack would normally cripple creatures dozens or even hundreds of times Bai Qiu’s size.
Yet this tiny human had emerged completely unscathed.
The falcon couldn’t help hesitating.
Should it continue hunting this human who barely had any meat on his bones?
“Shriek!”
The Skyvault Silver Falcon let out another piercing cry as it continued circling Bai Qiu.
Suddenly, it opened its beak and unleashed a silver-white beam of light—
Skyvault Light Cannon!
I can’t dodge this!
The thought had only just flashed through Bai Qiu’s mind when the beam was already about to hit him.
It was unimaginably fast.
But in the next instant, the Skyvault Silver Falcon’s eyes widened in utter disbelief, as if it had seen a ghost.
A black object had flashed into existence for the briefest moment and blocked its Light Cannon.
Bang!
Inside the Contract Space, A Yan landed with a thud.
The stone turtle scratched its head in confusion before casually walking back to a pile of rocks and happily resuming its meal.
Outside, however, Bai Qiu wore a confident, delighted smile.
“Just as I thought!”
Using his Contract Space Card, he could precisely control where A Yan or A Yuan emerged, from what height they appeared, and exactly how they entered the battlefield.
He knew there was no way he could block the Skyvault Silver Falcon’s Light Cannon himself—unless he used Brilliant Star, but that trump card was far too precious.
Then inspiration struck.
A Yan.
That’s right.
A Yan’s shell was the toughest part of its body.
Even if Bai Qiu used Dragon-Slaying Star’s Breath Spear together with Converging Mana Thurst, he wasn’t confident he could pierce it.
Blocking this fast, short-range Light Cannon was child’s play for A Yan.
Bai Qiu had simply summoned A Yan for an instant, using its shell as a shield against the beam, then immediately dismissed it back into the Contract Space.
No wonder the Skyvault Silver Falcon looked as though it had seen a ghost.
Usually, it was others who couldn’t keep up with its speed.
For the first time in its life, it had failed to see what its opponent had done.
Seeing that the Skyvault Silver Falcon stubbornly refused to come closer while continuing to circle overhead, Bai Qiu’s anger flared.
He planted Dragon-Slaying Star’s Breath Spear into the ground and drew out the Heaven-Earth Shattering Bow, along with a Radiant Star-Silver Arrow.
If the bird refused to close the distance, he had no opportunity to use Noble Phantasm.
Because of the falcon’s incredible speed, even if the skill locked onto its target, it might still fail to catch it.
That was why Bai Qiu had been unable to activate his Class Noble Phantasm.
The instant Bai Qiu drew the Heaven-Earth Shattering Bow, the Skyvault Silver Falcon sensed that something was terribly wrong.
Without the slightest hesitation, it abandoned this troublesome prey and fled at full speed.
The Skyvault Silver Falcon possessed exceptionally high intelligence.
At first, sensing the powerful aura of magic emanating from Bai Qiu, it had regarded him as prey.
But once it realized that this human was capable of threatening its own life, it immediately dropped him.
Even then, it wasn’t willing to give up so easily, deciding to test whether a ranged attack could bring Bai Qiu down instead.
From beginning to end, it had treated Bai Qiu as nothing more than prey.
But after several exchanges, it realized that minor skirmishes would never be enough to defeat him. .
If the battle continued, it would escalate into a life-and-death struggle between apex predators, where injury—or even death—would be inevitable.
After weighing the risks for a brief moment, it decided to abandon Bai Qiu as its target.
However, the enraged Bai Qiu had no intention of letting it leave so easily.
You think you can come whenever you want and leave whenever you please?
Since when did the world work that way?!
Without hesitation, he drew the Radiant Star-Silver Arrow to the full draw of the Heaven-Earth Shattering Bow.
His Sevenfold Arcane Crystallization Eyes were activated to their absolute limit, locking firmly onto the Skyvault Silver Falcon.
The falcon, now under Bai Qiu’s gaze, couldn’t shake the feeling that danger was lurking just behind it.
It repeatedly changed directions in flight, yet the sensation stubbornly clung to it.
Unable to bear the unease any longer, it finally turned its head to see what was causing it.
“Now!”
Bai Qiu seized the instant the falcon looked back and released the bowstring.
The Radiant Star-Silver Arrow roared through the sky.
In those few short seconds, the falcon had already flown seven or eight kilometers away.
But the maximum range of Fallen’s Dragon Bow had already reached twelve kilometers, and the far more powerful Heaven-Earth Shattering Bow could cover such a distance with ease.
The Radiant Star-Silver Arrow accelerated almost instantly, covering several kilometers in the blink of an eye.
After its brief acceleration phase, it reached a terrifying speed of Mach 40.
No matter how fast the Skyvault Silver Falcon was, it simply wasn’t that fast.
If it continued flying in a straight line, there would be only one outcome—
Death.
Fortunately for it, its Danger Sense wasn’t just for show.
The instant Bai Qiu released the arrow, the falcon immediately veered off course in an attempt to escape.
However, that split-second hesitation was only enough for it to move about a hundred meters.
Just as it seemed the arrow was about to miss, Bai Qiu detonated the mental imprint he had embedded inside the arrow’s piece of Gilded Stone.
The Radiant Star-Silver Arrow exploded prematurely.
A brilliant white flash engulfed the sky.
With the internal and external explosions combining into one devastating blast, the resulting power was tremendous.
Even from nearly a hundred meters away, the explosion still dealt severe damage to the Skyvault Silver Falcon.
The blast hurled it hundreds of meters through the air.
Half of its face was blown apart.
Cracks spread across its beak.
Its wings, protected by thick layers of feathers, suffered comparatively lighter damage, but the explosion still stunned it for a brief instant, causing it to lose control and plummet under its own momentum.
It quickly recovered.
Silver currents of energy erupted from its body, enveloping it completely.
The energy instantly stabilized its flight midair and propelled it into another burst of acceleration as it fled into the distance.
Bai Qiu frowned deeply.
A second Radiant Star-Silver Arrow was already nocked on the string.
But after witnessing the falcon’s sudden burst of speed, he reluctantly lowered his bow.
In that instant, the creature’s speed had tripled, reaching Mach 12.
At a distance of ten kilometers, the Radiant Star-Silver Arrow would need roughly four seconds to catch up.
By then, however, the delayed self-destruct timer of the Gilded Stone embedded inside the arrow would already have expired.
There was no chance the second shot would hit.
No matter how furious he still was, he wasn’t about to waste one of the fewer than one hundred Radiant Star-Silver Arrows he possessed.
He could only curse the fact that his Strength had yet to reach the Transcendent level.
Otherwise, drawing the bow to its full extent wouldn’t have taken him nearly so long.
