Shen Nanyue’s emotions were completely interrupted by his remark about marrying him.
The warmth in her eyes instantly faded.
She raised a hand and brushed Zhou Yushen’s hand away.
Her voice was soft, but there wasn’t the slightest bit of intimidation in it.
“You’re being shameless.”
“If I wasn’t shameless, would you still avoid me every time you saw me?”
Shen Nanyue pursed her lips, feeling embarrassed when she remembered the things she had said at the hospital before.
The woman he had always wanted to marry had been her all along, yet she had kept pushing him away out of jealousy.
Looking at how much thinner Zhou Yushen had become, her heart ached.
These past months must have been hard for him.
When Shen Nanyue remained silent for a long time, Zhou Yushen assumed she was still unwilling.
Although his heart sank, he didn’t pressure her.
“I’ll give you time to think about it.”
His deep voice carried a trace of disappointment, sounding unusually subdued.
A sharp pain tugged at Shen Nanyue’s heart.
Seeing him prepare to lie back down, she suddenly grabbed his collar.
Then she tilted her head up and kissed him.
The moment their lips touched, Zhou Yushen froze.
It took him several seconds to process what had happened.
Just as Shen Nanyue was about to pull away, he placed a hand behind her head and lowered his own, deepening the kiss.
It came over her like an overwhelming tide.
Even her fingertips tingled.
Blinking, she saw his eyelashes up close—thick and dark, as though they were brushing directly against her heart.
Warmth surged through her chest in waves.
She abruptly closed her eyes and kissed him back.
The hospital room was so quiet that even the sound of swallowing seemed incredibly clear.
No one knew how much time passed.
Suddenly, Shen Nanyue grabbed Zhou Yushen’s collar and pushed him back.
Their lips separated.
Leaning against his shoulder, she gasped for breath.
She had almost suffocated.
After Zhou Yushen steadied his breathing, he wrapped his arms around her.
The smile on his lips rose uncontrollably and even reached his eyes.
In a strange way, he almost felt grateful to Chen Yuan.
Because of her, he had regained his lost memories—and won the woman he loved.
“Looks like I don’t need to give you time to think anymore.”
She had already given him her answer.
Resting in Zhou Yushen’s embrace, Shen Nanyue didn’t respond immediately.
Only the corner of her lips lifted slightly.
“Uncle Li, let me in! I want to see Uncle!”
Xiaogu’s voice suddenly sounded from outside the door.
A moment later, hurried footsteps entered the room.
Shen Nanyue quickly slipped out of Zhou Yushen’s arms.
Turning around, she met Xiaogu’s clear, innocent eyes as he stood at the doorway with his head tilted in confusion.
Li Che and Shen An’an followed behind him.
They had intended to carry the little boy away before he barged in, but since he had already made it into the room, they could only smile awkwardly.
“You’re both awake.”
The moment the little troublemaker entered, Zhou Yushen’s expression darkened.
It was definitely time to send the kid back to his father.
“Pretty Sister, why are you and Uncle hugging each other? Are you dating?”
Xiaogu walked over to the hospital bed, leaned against it, and looked up at the two of them.
Shen Nanyue smiled and was about to explain.
Then she noticed a large hand entering her field of vision.
The hand stretched toward the little boy and flicked him lightly on the forehead.
Thunk.
Even Shen Nanyue heard the soft sound.
“Ouch!”
Xiaogu covered his forehead and glared at his cousin uncle in dissatisfaction.
“What nonsense are you talking about? That’s your aunt.” *in term of uncle wife
Zhou Yushen’s voice sounded beside her.
Shen Nanyue’s face instantly turned bright red.
She turned and shot him an angry glare.
How can this man be so shameless?
Zhou Yushen merely raised an eyebrow, clearly believing he was stating a fact.
Xiaogu’s eyes rolled around thoughtfully.
Then he looked at Shen Nanyue and sweetly called out,
“Pretty Auntie!”
His adorable expression instantly melted Shen Nanyue’s heart.
She couldn’t help reaching out and pinching his chubby little cheeks.
“Is this your nephew?”
Zhou Yushen nodded.
“My uncle’s biological grandson.”
Xiaogu scampered around the foot of the bed and stopped in front of Shen Nanyue.
His eyes continuously wandered over her from head to toe.
Zhou Yushen frowned.
“What are you looking at?”
Seeing that Shen Nanyue’s complexion had returned to normal—especially her rosy, full lips—Xiaogu decided that she must be fine now.
He stepped forward, leaned against her legs, and rubbed his cheek affectionately against her hand.
“Pretty Auntie, thank you for saving me last night. I’m really happy you’re okay.”
His soft, sweet voice came from beneath her palm.
Shen Nanyue felt her heart completely melt.
Gently pinching his little cheek, she smiled.
“Were you worried about me? Don’t worry anymore. I’m fine now.”
Suddenly, Xiaogu stood up from her lap and raised his tiny fist solemnly in front of her.
“Pretty Auntie, don’t worry! When Xiaogu grows up and marries you, I’ll never let you get hurt again!”
He lifted his little face with utmost seriousness.
Zhou Yushen’s expression darkened immediately.
Reaching out, he pushed the boy’s fist down.
“She’s my wife.”
He emphasized every word, looking unusually fierce.
Xiaogu shrank back slightly but stubbornly refused to back down.
“Your wife is your wife! I’m not marrying Auntie to make her my wife. I just want to protect her!”
Zhou Yushen snorted.
“Protect her while crying your eyes out? Save that energy for your future wife.”
Shen Nanyue couldn’t watch any longer and turned to glare at him.
“Why are you glaring at me? I’m the one who saved you. This little brat had nothing to do with it.”
“I’m not a little brat!”
“You are.”
“When did you start copying his baby-talk accent?” Shen Nanyue thought helplessly.
Feeling a headache coming on, she quickly picked Xiaogu up.
“Don’t listen to your uncle. The fire must’ve burned his brain.”
Xiaogu immediately stuck out his tongue at Zhou Yushen.
Looking dissatisfied, Zhou Yushen leaned back against the headboard.
Watching the scene, Shen An’an and Li Che exchanged smiles before quietly slipping out of the hospital room.
Outside the door, Wu Jinshu was chatting with Zhou Yu.
Seeing Shen An’an and Li Che emerge, she immediately asked, “How are they doing?”
Li Che covered his smile and replied,
“Looks like wedding bells aren’t far away.”
Wu Jinshu’s face lit up with joy.
When Zhou Yushen and Shen Nanyue had been brought to the hospital the day before, Li Che had already told her that Shen Nanyue was the girl Zhou Yushen had fallen in love with in Fengcheng.
After learning that the two had merely been arguing, Wu Jinshu had already begun planning how to win over her future in-law’s mother.
To her surprise, while chatting with Zhou Yu, she discovered that Zhou Yu wasn’t opposed to the relationship at all.
That made her even happier.
She practically wanted to call the entire family immediately and share the good news.
“Wait a minute. Why is Xiaogu still in there? That little rascal has absolutely no sense of timing!”
Wu Jinshu suddenly charged into the room and scooped the boy up.
“If nothing’s wrong, stop bothering your uncle, understand?”
“Then can I go bother Pretty Auntie?”
Pretty Auntie?
He already changed what he calls her?
As expected of my Yushen—he really works fast!
Suppressing a grin, Wu Jinshu coughed lightly and held Xiaogu in her arms.
Then she turned toward Zhou Yu and asked with a smile, “Sister, how about our two families find a time to meet and discuss the children’s wedding?”
