Ch 20 : Hurry Up and Evolve!

Seeing the once-imposing Bio-Quetzalmon being struck down into the park, the Digimons and passersby in the food street all breathed a sigh of relief before erupting into cheers.

“We won!”

“Woohooo, yeah, baby!”

“As expected of the boss!”

They saw Sora draw her bow, nock an arrow, and lift her left leg as—A radiant arrow shot forth.

“She’s going for the final blow!”

The crowd held their breath in anticipation.

The attack range of the Holy Arrow was not as vast as Heaven’s Purple Light, but its piercing damage was formidable. Though Bio-Quetzalmon was powerful, it lacked regenerative abilities; if pierced by the Holy Arrow, there would be no chance of survival.

Rumble~!

At that critical moment, a golden light descended from the sky.

The radiance of lightning!

Accompanied by an earth-shattering roar, the golden lightning struck the Holy Arrow, transforming into an intertwined surge of golden and white currents that scattered in all directions.

The night sky was clear, without a single dark cloud… Where had this lightning that intercepted the Holy Arrow come from?

The crowd looked up and saw a giant blue bird, its body crackling intermittently with electricity.

“Ah, it’s him!” Vademon cried out in alarm.

The woman anchor said, “…What is that?”

“Th-Thunderb-birmon!” Vademon trembled.

It had fallen into Kurata’s hands after being defeated by this Thunderbirmon.

There was indeed a gap in strength between them, but that wasn’t what truly terrified Vademon. What made it fear this Thunderbirmon was its ability to completely disregard its ultimate move.

Vademon’s special move was called Evil Kiss, which could sap the willpower of its victims.

Even the most steadfast warrior would collapse instantly upon being struck by Evil Kiss.

Yet, this technique had no effect on Thunderbirmon in any way. It seemed to possess an inexhaustible fighting spirit as if born for battle!

This terrifying, unshakable willpower left Vademon deeply afraid.

“Bio-Thunderbirmon.”

Sora uttered the true name of the newcomer.

Like Quetzalmon, Thunderbirmon was an Armor-level Digimon too.

Originally, it was only equivalent to the Champion level, albeit this Bio-Thunderbirmon was different. Its strength, speed, and other attributes had been massively enhanced, reaching the Ultimate level!

In terms of appearance, the helmet on Bio-Thunderbirmon’s head had turned red, and there was a syringe-like injector at the back of its head.

That injector was the defining trait of Bio-Digimon!

Since it was a Bio-Digimon, it meant that the core of this Bio-Thunderbirmon was also a Digimon Hunter, named “Kouki.”

It was a rather respectable name—ignoring the fact that their real name was ‘Kouki’—but the person who bore it was a battle fanatic.

Unlike Marcus Damon, who fought with a sense of justice and honor, Kouki fought purely for battle, committing evil without restraint, and would stop at nothing to achieve victory.

Bio-Quetzalmon, regaining its senses, looked up at the airborne Bio-Thunderbirmon, “Why are you here?”

This mission should have been hers alone.

Kurata’s three Digimon Hunters were colleagues in name, but they held no camaraderie, even looking down on one another.

Moreover, as a self-proclaimed genius, Nanami held herself in high regard and wouldn’t feel grateful even if someone saved her.

Bio-Thunderbirmon sneered, keeping its eyes fixed on Sora, “Ojou-sama, is this how you treat your savior?”

‘This doesn’t feel good…’

If Sora took the opportunity to attack, she would inevitably become the target of Bio-Thunderbirmon’s focused assault. Furthermore, with a second Digimon Hunter appearing here, did that mean the third one was nearby as well?

That was Sora’s greatest concern.

With her current strength, dealing with a single Digimon Hunter was already taxing. If two more appeared, it would be disastrous.

She might have to tap into the hidden backup energy stored within the Holy Ring… That was her final trump card, not to be used unless absolutely necessary.

Though the situation was dire, it wasn’t yet over, not until the final moment.

‘Speaking of which… where is DATS? Why haven’t they arrived yet?’

Sora’s live broadcast wasn’t really for meeting the prime minister, it was meant to lure out DATS.

Yet before DATS could arrive, the Digimon Hunters had shown up instead.

No… It sounded as if the broadcast had attracted the Digimon Hunters.

In reality, ever since Sora and the Digimon escaped from Kurata, he was bound to send people after them. Even without the broadcast, she would have encountered the Digimon Hunters.

Ultimately, however, the broadcast was still an effort to bring in DATS.

On the other side, Bio-Quetzalmon scoffed at Bio-Thunderbirmon’s words, showing no gratitude. Instead, it coldly said, “Stay out of my way. She is my prey!”

To be defeated by a Digimon… for a genius girl and a Digimon Hunter like her, this was nothing short of humiliation.

Initially, she had come here for amusement, but now her heart was filled with rage and frustration. Today was simply terrible.

‘Damn that Angewomon! It is all that Angewomon’s fault!’

Bio-Thunderbirmon chuckled, “If you can still fight, then go ahead.”

Bio-Quetzalmon bristled at those words, struggling to lift her head, but before three seconds had passed, she collapsed again, her head hitting the ground with a dull thud.

The lingering effects of Sora’s Lightning Paw were still overwhelming, making it impossible for Bio-Quetzalmon to recover quickly.

“So stubborn,” Bio-Thunderbirmon scoffed. “If you can’t stand, just watch from the side. I’ll handle this Angewomon.”

Fixing his gaze on Sora, he eagerly declared, “Let me see what makes you so special.”

“Heh…”

Bio-Thunderbirmon narrowed his eyes, “What are you laughing at?”

Sora smirked, “I’m laughing because your time is up.”

The DATS patrol cars had finally arrived!

The doors opened, and three humans along with a Digimon stepped out.

It was Marcus Damon, Thomas, Yoshino, and Agumon S.

Thomas and Yoshino each took out their Digivices and released their partner Digimon—Gaomon and Lalamon.

The main trio and their Digimon had gathered.

“That’s your ace? Them?” Bio-Thunderbirmon sneered.

Agumon S muttered, “Aniki, he’s looking down on us.”

Masaru clenched his fists, “What kind of attitude is that?!”

A battle was about to erupt once more.

Thomas and Yoshino exchanged glances.

There were quite a few Digimons here, and it was obvious that they weren’t all on the same side. Before arriving, they had worried about which group they should fight first.

Now, there was no need to worry, their first target should be Bio-thunderbirdmon.

Both ignited their Digisoul, allowing their partner Digimon to evolve to Champion level.

“Gaomon, digivolve… Gaogamon!”

“Lalamon, digivolve… Sunflowmon!”

A massive blue wolf and a towering sunflower stood on the battlefield.

“Thunderstorm!”

Bio-thunderbirdmon flapped its wings, instantly unleashing a fierce storm filled with crackling lightning. Like autumn leaves swept away by the wind, Gaogamon and Sunflowmon were sent flying ten meters back.

“Gaogamon!”

“Sunflowmon!”

Thomas and Yoshino were shocked, calling out to their partners in concern.

They hadn’t expected Bio-thunderbirdmon to be so overwhelmingly powerful—it had brought two Champion-level Digimon to their knees with just a single attack!

Gaogamon and Sunflowmon struggled to rise, but the residual electricity in the storm had already paralyzed their bodies.

Bio-thunderbirdmon let out a triumphant laugh. “Hmph, hahahaha! You’re nothing but low-level Digimon—how pathetic!”

“Damn it!” Masaru gritted his teeth in frustration.

Unlike the others, he couldn’t ignite his Digisoul at will—he needed to land a solid punch on a Digimon with all his strength to trigger it.

This meant that right now, all he could do was watch!

Sora shouted toward Thomas and Yoshino, “Keep evolving! You need to reach Ultimate level to stand a chance against him!”

“Eh? Ultimate?” Thomas and Yoshino were stunned.

It wasn’t that they didn’t understand what Ultimate meant—it was that they simply couldn’t achieve it.

“…” Sora realized it from their expressions.

So, their partners could only evolve to Champion. In other words, it was still in the early stages of the original storyline.

“Now it’s your turn!”

Bio-thunderbirdmon no longer paid attention to DATS. Instead, it turned its gaze toward Sora, its eyes glinting coldly.

With a flap of its wings, it gathered power once more.

“Thunderstorm!”

The storm howled, thunder rumbling. Dust and lightning filled the air, making it seem as though a piece of the apocalypse had descended upon them!
