Ch 91 : I’ll send you straight to hell myself

The moment those words fell, Shen Nanyue’s expression changed.

Instinctively, she looked toward Zhou Yushen, only to find that his face remained unchanged—still cold and severe.

In those unfathomable eyes seemed to hide endless shards of ice; even the slightest glance from him was enough to make people unable to withstand it.

Yet Chen Mu acted as though he had not noticed Zhou Yushen’s darkened expression at all.

A faint, even smug smile still lingered at the corner of his lips.

Shen Nanyue also felt displeased.

When it came to the people she considered her own, she had always been fiercely protective.

A slight smile curved at her lips as well.

Her crescent-shaped eyes narrowed slightly, and her delicate face looked dazzlingly bright.

Chen Mu’s heart skipped a beat.

Every time Shen Nanyue smiled like this, he always felt uneasy.

Sure enough, Shen Nanyue spoke.

Her cool voice carried a trace of mockery.

“Chen Mu, since when did I ever know you to be someone who treasures memories so much?”

“When I caught you half a year ago rolling around in bed with Lin Siwan at the hotel, why didn’t you talk to me then about cherishing memories?”

Chen Mu had always known Shen Nanyue had a sharp tongue, but every time he experienced it firsthand, he would end up wounded to varying degrees.

And every single time, he never knew how to deal with her.

Just like now.

His face darkened, but for a moment he could not think of a single rebuttal.

Yet Shen Nanyue had no intention of letting him off so easily.

She leaned forward slightly, her gaze tightly locking onto his furious eyes.

“Chen Mu, you and Lin Siwan are already engaged now, aren’t you? Sitting here talking to me about memories—does she know about that?”

The mention of Lin Siwan made Chen Mu even angrier.

Recently, Lin Siwan seemed to have gone crazy.

She no longer treated him with the same enthusiasm as before.

Back then, she used to cling to him constantly, calling “Brother Chen Mu” endlessly.

But now he rarely even saw her shadow.

And even when they did meet, her attitude was cold and distant.

As though he had truly done something unforgivable to her.

“Don’t mention her to me!”

“Oh? So you two fought.” Shen Nanyue suddenly understood, a trace of ridicule flashing across her face.

But because she still needed something from him, she quickly restrained herself.

“But that’s your business, not mine. Zhou Yushen came here with me, and I won’t make him leave. And you know very well how much I care about An’an. If you refuse to tell me about what she went through during these past three years, I’m not someone who gives up easily either.”

That was the truth.

As someone who had grown up alongside Shen Nanyue since childhood, Chen Mu had long witnessed the extent of her protectiveness toward Shen An’an.

For Shen An’an’s sake, Shen Nanyue truly was capable of anything.

Including—but not limited to—exposing all the embarrassing things from his childhood, leaking videos of him cheating with Lin Siwan, and even targeting his younger sister inside prison.

Whether it was childish revenge or ruthless methods, Shen Nanyue would do it all.

Chen Mu gritted his teeth and unwillingly shot Zhou Yushen a resentful glare.

Zhou Yushen coldly glanced back at him before looking away in obvious disdain, without even bothering to hide it.

He clearly did not regard Chen Mu as worth anything at all!

Anger churned violently inside Chen Mu, but when he met Shen Nanyue’s almost threatening gaze, he finally let out a helpless breath.

“I’ll tell you,” he said at last.

His gritted-teeth tone was filled with frustration and helplessness.

Shen Nanyue nodded and made a gesture for him to continue.

Chen Mu did not reveal the exact location where Shen An’an had been imprisoned.

Instead, he described the environments she had lived in and the treatment she endured over the years.

Cold and damp surroundings.

Mosquitoes, rats, and insects constantly invading.

Poor ventilation in the rooms, making sleep impossible at night.

Walls on all four sides with no windows.

Only a bed and a chair.

The bright white fluorescent lights never turned off.

The tightly shut door only opened three times a day to deliver meals, allowing in brief traces of fresh air from outside.

Then there were rooms with windows.

Warm sunlight.

Soft beds.

Nutritious and lavish meals every day.

But every single day she had blood drawn for testing and was forced to take different blood-replenishing medicines.

With every environment Chen Mu described, Shen Nanyue’s heart tightened more painfully.

Her expression grew colder and colder.

Her fists clenched tightly atop the table, her fingernails digging so hard into her palms they nearly pierced the flesh.

For the past three years, An’an’s life had been spent moving between these different environments!

“Ting’er’s episodes became more and more frequent later on. We could only keep Shen An’an healthy and treat her well every day, so that she would still be alive the next time blood was needed.”

“You bastard!”

At last, Shen Nanyue could no longer endure it.

She grabbed the wine glass in her hand and hurled it viciously at Chen Mu.

Chen Mu did not dodge.

The glass smashed hard against his forehead, and blood quickly began flowing down from the wound.

Shen Nanyue stood up, crossed the narrow dining table in a single step, bent down, and grabbed Chen Mu by the collar, yanking him close to her face.

The dishes on the table clattered loudly as they were shoved aside.

Amid the sharp, tense sounds of collision, Shen Nanyue glared fiercely at Chen Mu.

The eyes that had been smiling moments ago were now dark as ink, icy to the extreme, as though she wanted to tear the man before her into pieces.

“Chen Mu! When An’an was little, she used to call you ‘big brother’ too. The two of you played together so well when you were children—have you forgotten all of that?”

“You turned An’an into Chen Ting’s walking blood bank while abusing her at the same time. You watched all of it happen. Did you never once think about saving her?”

Shen Nanyue was almost hysterical.

Beside her, Zhou Yushen was no longer lounging lazily in his seat.

He leaned forward slightly, watching Shen Nanyue’s actions with visible tension.

Meanwhile, under Shen Nanyue’s relentless questioning, Chen Mu fell completely silent.

At last, he lifted his eyes, and a gray, hopeless despair surged through his pupils.

“What was I supposed to do?”

He asked in a low voice, as though questioning Shen Nanyue—or perhaps questioning himself even more.

The violent clash of emotions left him nearly unable to control himself.

He suddenly raised his hand and forcefully shoved Shen Nanyue’s grip away.

Shen Nanyue stumbled backward, nearly falling.

Zhou Yushen immediately straightened and caught her.

By then, Chen Mu had already stood up.

His face looked disheveled and miserable, grief overflowing uncontrollably.

“Shen Nanyue, you’re not the only one with a younger sister! My sister Chen Ting also needed to survive! What else could I do, do you understand?! I needed Shen An’an’s blood to save my sister! Only then could my sister live! Do you understand that?!”

Both his hands pressed against the table as his bloodshot eyes stared directly at Shen Nanyue.

“As long as my sister could live, I was willing to pay any price! That’s why I gave up your sister—and even gave up the woman I deeply loved, you!”

Held in Zhou Yushen’s arms, the fury in Shen Nanyue’s eyes gradually calmed.

But as she listened to Chen Mu’s words, her gaze only became colder and colder, until finally a mocking sneer curled across her lips.

She stepped out of Zhou Yushen’s embrace and looked directly into Chen Mu’s twisted eyes.

“Then what about now?”

“Your sister Chen Ting has been sent to prison. You and the rest of the Chen family washed your hands clean and pushed every crime onto her alone.”

“Have you ever thought about the fact that, if the circumstances are serious enough, she could be sentenced to death?”

Chen Mu froze.

The mockery in Shen Nanyue’s eyes deepened further.

“You never truly loved your sister. You merely used her as an excuse to commit evil.”

“Chen Mu… one day, I will personally send you to hell.”

Zhou Yushen was famously known as an untouchable iceberg beauty—everyone said he was far beyond anyone’s reach. But only Shen Nanyue knew the blazing passion and madness hidden beneath his cold and austere exterior.

At first, she thought he only lusted after her beauty, addicted to the desire and intoxication of the night. Yet when he willingly bowed before her, content to become utterly devoted to her, she finally understood—love had always been a kind of willing taming, one powerful enough to pull the cold moon hanging high in the heavens down into the mortal dust.
