Ch 18 : The Digimon Hunter Arrives!

“What’s wrong?”

Sora noticed a subtle change in the lady anchor’s expression. Before that change appeared, the anchor had made a motion to hold her earpiece.

Clearly, someone had spoken to her through it.

“I’m fine…”

A slight sweat appeared on the anchor’s forehead as she forced a smile. “Um… Lady Angewomon, the Prime Minister is on his way. Please wait here.”

In truth, the central station had just cut off the external broadcast. The person who cut the broadcast also instructed her to find a way to keep Angewomon and the other Digimon at the food street while the relevant personnel rushed over as fast as possible.

It seemed like she had really been caught up in a major incident.

‘Unlucky, unlucky, soooo unlucky!’

The anchor felt like crying.

“Oh?” Angewomon examined the anchor.

She had a rather cute appearance, shoulder-length black hair, a women’s suit over a white shirt, a work badge hanging from her neck, matte black stockings covering her legs, and black square-heeled shoes.

Simple and capable, a very ordinary television anchor look.

“Lady Angewomon, is something wrong?” Although the mask covered Angewomon’s eyes, the anchor could feel her gaze, making her extremely pressured.

Sora lifted her foot and stepped closer to the anchor, one step at a time, until their chests aligned.

Hers was higher because she was taller.

“Is the broadcast still on?”

“Y-yes, it’s…” The anchor blushed, answering nervously.

Only the external broadcast was cut, the internal feed was still running.

“I see…”

Sora smiled slightly, turned around, and spotted Goblimon enjoying takoyaki in the crowd.

She walked over and grabbed Goblimon’s head with one hand.

“Big Sis…” Goblimon broke out in a cold sweat, trembling. “I was really hungry.”

“I can see that.”

Sora patted Goblimon’s head and smiled. “Don’t be so nervous, I’m not blaming you.”

Though she was initially furious, Goblimon’s actions had given her some insight.

“Not eating leads to hunger—it’s perfectly normal.”

Sora turned to Vademon, Mushroomon, Otamamon, Gawappamon, and Kunemon. “You guys must be hungry too, right? Come and eat together.”

These Digimons had been trapped in stasis pods after being captured. Though the pods contained nutrient-infused anesthetic fluid, it only barely kept them alive. Now that they had escaped and run some distance, they were indeed starving.

“…Can we really eat?” Mushroomon, Otamamon, and Gawappamon drooled.

Vademon, however, looked worried.

Kunemon, a yellow caterpillar-like Digimon, could understand speech but lacked the ability to talk, let alone express emotions.

“Of course.” Sora nodded, then looked at the anchor. “Everyone can eat and drink for free, and the TV station will cover the cost. Right?”

The anchor was stunned—what did this have to do with her?

‘Oh, the station is paying? Then it is fine…’

“Y-Yes!” she nodded repeatedly.

Sora raised her left arm, pointing at the sky. The Fairy Tail emblem on her forearm stood out prominently. “Then, let’s have a feast!”

“Ohhh!!!”

The food street, which had fallen silent due to the Digimon’s presence, erupted with excitement once again. Not only did the hungry Digimon feast, but the regular customers also gathered in large numbers.

Meanwhile…

A DATS police car was speeding toward the scene.

Inside the car were four life forms. Three humans and one Digimon.

The three humans were Marcus Damon, Thomas, and Yoshino, while the Digimon was Agumon.

Unlike the famous Agumon, this one was slightly larger, had bigger nostrils, and wore red bands on its claws. It was an Agumon variant—Agumon S.

In the passenger seat, Thomas analyzed the situation on a tablet.

“This Angewomon is different from the previous Digimon. She is very cunning. From her claim of being a diplomat and her request to see the Prime Minister, it’s clear she has a deep understanding of the human world.”

The tablet played footage of Sora delivering a diplomatic address.

Though she hadn’t caused any destruction yet, Thomas believed this situation was even more dangerous.

This wasn’t intuition—it was the logical deduction of a fourteen-year-old genius who had graduated from the Royal Academy of Stockholm.

At the same age, Marcus lacked Thomas’s intellect. He only knew how to fight and loved nothing but fighting. Sitting in the back, he stretched his neck to look at the tablet, “This Angewomon seems pretty nice. She’s even treating everyone to food.”

Agumon S, watching the Digimon feasting on-screen, drooled with envy, “I agree with Boss! That looks so good!”

Yoshino, who was driving, rolled her eyes, “She’s not paying for it.”

As the only eighteen-year-old among them, she already felt financial pressure. If someone covered her expenses, she could also be generous and treat people.

Booom!

Suddenly, an explosion rang out from the tablet’s footage.

Marcus said, “What happened?”

Thomas frowned, “The food street is under attack by a Digimon!”

Yoshino gripped the steering wheel, “Hold on, I’m speeding up!”

While DATS rushed to the scene, atop a skyscraper near the food street, a blonde girl in gothic attire stood alone.

Her name was Nanami.

A genius.

She could accomplish anything with ease, making the world around her dull. Seeking thrills and excitement, she became a Digimon Hunter under Kurata’s command.

“What a peculiar Digimon.”

Watching the events unfold, a playful smile appeared on Nanami’s stunning face.

She became a Digimon Hunter for fun, and that odd Angewomon was bound to provide plenty of entertainment!

The thought alone made her heart race with excitement.

She flicked her left wrist, triggering a mechanism that ejected a Digivice.

Simultaneously, purple flames ignited in her right hand—the essence of Digisoul.

She infused the Digisoul into the Digivice, calling out, “Bio-Evolution!”

Purple Digisoul surged from her hand, enveloping her entire body in dazzling light. Within the glow, her form stretched and expanded until she transformed into a giant white serpent.

The serpent’s head was red, and adorned with wings on its sides. A test-tube-like structure protruded from the back of its head, golden markings covering its body like relics of an ancient civilization, and the tip of its tail bore a flame-shaped metal spearhead.

Bio-Quetzalmon!

Bio-Quetzalmon soared into the sky, its body glowing white as it streaked through the night like a shooting star. But instead of flying in a straight line, it curved, reaching its peak before plunging downward.

Its target—Sora in the food street!
