“I’ve already planted a large number of Space-Time Oscillation Bombs in both the Digital World and the Human World. Only I know where they are. If I don’t return periodically to deactivate them, they’ll explode.”
…That was a lie.
Kurata made it up to shake off Spencer. Regardless, he was sure Spencer would believe it—because he was kind.
Spencer would never gamble with the safety of both worlds.
Kurata wore a confident smile. “Time is running out, you know.”
Spencer’s heart grew heavier.
While fending off Bio-Darkdramon’s attacks, BanchoLeomon shouted, “Spencer, that Kurata guy is just a weakling! Grab him and beat the bomb locations out of him!”
‘You bastard! Who are you calling weak?’
Kurata’s eyes flashed coldly as he cursed the savage Digimon under his breath.
‘Just wait—soon I’ll crush you to pieces!’
Spencer’s eyes lit up, and he slammed his fist into the ground. A punch imbued with DigiSoul caused immense damage to the Digital World’s earth.
BOOOM!
Dirt and rock exploded outward in a cloud of dust.
Kurata tensed up and stepped back quickly, while the Gizmon: XT moved in to protect him. Putting on a show, he said, “Still resisting? Then let me give you a little gift.”
With that, he pressed a switch inside his pocket.
A loud boom sounded in the distance.
A portal connecting the Digital World and Human World opened!
Spencer, who had been ready to pummel Kurata, was once again forced into a dilemma.
Kurata smiled. “That was just the first one. There are plenty more Space-Time Oscillation Bombs ready to blow. Spencer, what are you going to do now?”
“Kurata, you’re despicable!” Spencer growled through clenched teeth.
“Don’t wrong a good man,” Kurata said with a sunny smile, unfazed.
‘The greater the ambition, the more such details can be ignored. Once I rule the world, I’ll wipe out everyone who knows my dark past. Why waste energy being angry?’
With the threat of the Space-Time Oscillation Bombs, neither Spencer nor BanchoLeomon dared to make a reckless move.
The standoff began.
Spencer wanted to stop the rest of the bombs from detonating, but there was no way Kurata would just let him walk away.
Would Kurata strike as he tried to leave?
“Huh?”
Abruptly, BanchoLeomon and Bio-Darkdramon both turned in the same direction.
“It’s Gallantmon!” Bio-Darkdramon said.
Powerful Digimon can sense one another even across dozens or hundreds of kilometers—unless the other is actively hiding their presence. The fact that Bio-Darkdramon could identify the distant presence of Gallantmon meant they had fought before.
And indeed, they had.
Bio-Darkdramon had not only fought Gallantmon—he had been completely defeated. He had only managed to escape thanks to the sacrificial delay of dozens of Gizmon: XT.
Sensing Gallantmon now filled him with both rage and fear.
Rage, because he had lost. Despite the pain and suffering of becoming a Mega-level Digimon, he still wasn’t the strongest. Fear, because Gallantmon was simply too powerful, and there weren’t enough Gizmon: XT left to cover another retreat.
Kurata stiffened when he heard the name Gallantmon.
Before encountering Gallantmon, he had no idea such powerful Digimon existed in the Digital World…
Too powerful!
It forced him to act cautiously in the Digital World, no longer arrogant as before.
Though rattled, Kurata kept up his act, smirking. “Spencer, consider yourself lucky today!”
With that, he retreated behind several Gizmon: XT under Spencer’s watchful gaze.
While the Gizmon: XT couldn’t defeat Spencer or land a hit on the agile BanchoLeomon, multiple units could still delay them briefly, making decent bodyguards.
“BanchoLeomon, we’re going to stop those bombs,” Spencer said. As much as he wanted to capture Kurata, the bombs took priority.
Kurata could be caught later—the chance to stop the bombs was now or never.
He had no choice but to let Kurata go and race off with BanchoLeomon to intercept the detonations.
When they arrived at the explosion site, all they found were tire tracks.
“Spencer, what happened?” BanchoLeomon asked.
Spencer thought aloud, “There must’ve been a vehicle here before, maybe even a tent. This was likely Kurata’s temporary base. But now it’s gone—probably sucked in by the portal created by the Space-Time Oscillation Bomb.”
Realization dawned, and he rubbed his temples in frustration. “We were tricked by Kurata!”
BanchoLeomon was about to respond when a large figure descended from the sky.
Clad in white armor, holding a massive shield in the left hand and a lance in the right, with a red cape fluttering behind—one of the Royal Knights: Gallantmon.
“Spencer, why are you still here?”
After Spencer gave a brief explanation, Gallantmon asked, “Where is Kurata?”
“I believe he’s already left the Digital World.”
…
Elsewhere, Kurata sat cradled by a Gizmon: XT, fleeing into the depths of the forest along with the remaining units and Kouki, who had reverted from Bio-Darkdramon.
After running about three kilometers, they hid in a mountain cave within a canyon to rest.
Kouki lay sprawled on the ground, furious at how Gallantmon had forced them into such a pathetic retreat. “This is ridiculous! Kurata, give me more power—power strong enough to defeat Gallantmon!”
‘… Annoying little thug.’
Kurata’s eyes flashed with disdain, though his voice remained gentle. “Bio-Darkdramon is already a Mega. If you want to get stronger, you need more life energy. And that’s exactly what we’re collecting, isn’t it?”
Kouki pushed himself up. “We’ve already gathered a lot. Why haven’t you given it to me?”
“In that case, let’s return to the Human World.”
“Why go back?” Kouki asked, puzzled.
Kurata adjusted his glasses, looking at Kouki like a worthless object. “Injecting energy into you requires a safe location and equipment. I’ve already transported that gear back to the Human World.”
He had stationed two Gizmon: XT at the temporary base. After the Space-Time Oscillation Bomb detonated, those two protected the equipment as it returned through the portal.
All they needed to do was follow.
Obsessed with becoming stronger, Kouki didn’t notice the look in Kurata’s eyes. He eagerly said, “Then let’s hurry up and go back!”
Kurata pulled out another Space-Time Oscillation Bomb, tossed it, and activated it. As the portal opened, he led the Gizmon: XT and Kouki through it, returning to the Human World.
But…
Upon returning after more than half a month away, Kurata was utterly stunned.
The once-secret images of Digimon were now openly appearing everywhere!
On streets, in alleys, even in commercials—
‘What the hell is going on?!’
For a moment, Kurata thought he’d ended up in the wrong world…
